COP26

THE GREAT CONTRIBUTION OF A COLLABORATIVE BRITISH AND INDONESIAN VENTURE TOWARDS NET ZERO

Gold Teak is an Indonesian company that was registered in 2007 and is owned by the UK Company Curtis and Associates (C&A) Limited, and Indonesian Citizens. Please visit: goldteak.com for more details.

Following the establishment of an initial pilot project of 2.6 hectares of Teak Trees in Bumasari, Sukabumi, West Java, in 2005 , at the time of the inception of the Kyoto Protocol, a further 40 hectares of Teak and other Tree types were planted close to Cibening village in the same area from 2007 onwards.

These magnificent Agro Forestry plantations have created natural carbon sequestration Ecosystems which have not only brought considerable benefits to local communities, they also demonstrate the great potential of the wonderfully fertile lands of Indonesia for Sequestration and Offset Projects in the drive towards Net Zero.

As a result of these last 16 years of rapid carbon storage, the C&A Group reached Net Zero last year 2020, and is now Carbon Negative moving forwards, and it was done at a cost of less than 0.5% of Group Turnover during that time. It does not need to cost the earth to Save the Earth.

PT Gold Teak will be participating in the BritCham Mission to the Climate Chambers at COP26, and we will share this real and established Indonesian success story with the Global Community.

The purposes of this participation are to:

  • Demonstrate how Net Zero can be achieved by all companies great or small and at the same time benefit local communities.
  • Encourage Global Citizens to preserve Our Environment through participation in carbon offsetting schemes that can be Verified and Trusted
  • Promote a green investment business which has multiple economic value and benefits, as well as providing tax revenue for the country government.
  • Develop Forest Resources for Sustainable Wood Products through tree planting, cropping and replanting cycles
  • Engage international investment in Indonesia so that a new Green Economy will bring increased employment and a greater sense of purpose for poor and often remote local communities.
  • Develop new business opportunities through BritCham Indonesia
  • Cooperate with the Indonesian government and other parties related to green investment projects to rehabilitate critical land and damaged forest through Agro-Forestry initiatives.

The Climate Chamber Mission Summit and COP 26 are the gateway for PT. Gold Teak to connect with business leaders and key players from other countries to collaborate on creating a sustainable economy.
