This year, Indonesia celebrated the 77^th anniversary of independence, the entire Indonesia nation rejoices. The students of SD Cibeureum also did the same. They celebrated with various activities at school, which were quite lively and made the people in the village happy too .

Since pandemic, the students mostly did their activities at home and around their houses. CSR activities that they could do were reading story books, drawing, made handy crafts from recycled things.

When pak Adi Iswanto, director of PT Goldteak, visited SD Cibeureum, students, school principal, teachers and village officers were happy. Every  body expected that CSR program from PT Goldteak will be continuously and should be elevated. Bapak Adi Iswanto responded positively on students’ enthusiastic  and encouraged them to kept following the CSR programs.

Every month GoldTeak sends Ibu Dewi, the operations manager, to visit SD Cibeureum. This visit is not an ordinary visit, but a visit that contains a company mission to carry out Corporate Social Responsibility activities. Of course, visiting the school is not the only CSR activity of PT GoldTeak. Contributing to the Cibening village is another CSR activity, either materially, financially or socially.

Especially for the Cibeureum Elementary School, PT GoldTeak makes programs that can be done by students outside the official program from the Education Office. Almost every month PT GoldTeak donates reading books, science books as well as skill books that students can do in their spare time.

This month, the students received two books containing a lot of  knowledge, the book which contains the answers to the questions that always arise in the minds of students…. I wonder why? …this book is about student curiosity. The second book is a book about many interesting experiments that students can do together, play while learning, very interesting and make students want to try new things that are useful.

When ibu Dewi came to school, she was greeted by the students with a welcoming song. It has been more than ten years since she visited Cibening village and met students, this visit was a special one.

The students sang a welcoming song for ibu Dewi :

School holidays are over, elementary school students have to go back to school to study. Currently Cibening village is free from the Covid-19 pandemic, villagers are doing their activities as usual. Even though they are declared free from Covid-19, the villagers still follow the health protocols to wear masks when going to public places, wash their hands with soap, give greetings without shaking hands.

The children have to play less and start studying again at school. Students on first grade have progressed to second grade and the sixth grade students have also graduated and continue on to a secondary school or Junior High School. There are new students in first grade, they take lessons at school for the first time.

Cibening village does not have a Kindergarten or PAUD (early childhood education), so after the children are six or seven years old they can go straight to elementary school. Usually families help children study before they enter elementary school.

Starting a new school year, one of the teachers, Mr. Heri brought several students to the GoldTeak plantation. The weather was sunny and the students were having fun, singing, playing and learning about plants. Mr. Zaini had to answer many questions from students about the trees planted by GoldTeak, and the benefits of planting trees. They were very happy and they will visit again the plantation next time with more friends.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the children in Cibening village mostly stayed home. They were not free to go outside to play and they did not go to school to study. Considering the situation,  PT GoldTeak donated story books to the children, through the school to keep them active and happy, not got bored. They read together with their friendsm their siblings or their parents at home. They should return the books that they had finished reading so other students could borrow the books also.

Government has announced that the students can go to school again, because according the village head, Cibening village is free from Covid-19. The students were very happy, because they can study and play with their friends at school, they can do their normal learning activities.

This month, Mrs. Dewi, Mr. Zaini and five employees of New Energy Matrix visited SD Cibeureum, Cibening village to hand in donation from PT GoldTeak, 4 balls, two volleyballs and two soccer balls. The students can’t wait to play ball and play volleyball in the school yard or on the empty field.

Children will be happy when they are healthy, and their happiness will be completed with books and games, indoor or outdoor.

When PT GoldTeak started the CSR programs in Cibening village, apart from helping Cibeureum Elementary School, PT GoldTeak also helped the community to build the Islamic school, Madrasah Al-Istiqomah. The other supports were donation Al-Quran and Juzz Amma for students who were learning to read the Koran.

To encourage students during the pandemic, PT GoldTeak prepared one program for the students to memorize short letters in the Koran. Students who had less mistakes would get presents, the Korans with Indonesian translation and also with signs to memorize easily. Students also got some money from donors.

There were 16 students who took part, and there were six who had the fewest mistakes and they received big and beautiful Korans and also some money. All students who took part in this activity received a special printed Koran to study as well as some money. For students who did not participate in the activity they also received a special printed Korans but without money and all Madrasah students received the Juzz Amma book. It is hoped that Madrasah students will be more active and enthusiastic in learning to read the Koran with their family at home.

All children have talents and skills, some are the same, some are different, Some already know that they have talent and skills, some don’t. Teachers and families have a very important role for the development of these talents and skills, because it is very unfortunate that children who have talents are not given the opportunity to develop these potentials.

There are many ways to help children, especially students, to recognize their talents and skills. We can notice the things they like, diverse hobbies allow children to recognize the talents and skills they master. There are children who like to doodle and draw various shapes or forms, or there are children who like to be given writing assignments, or children who like to sing, dance or tell stories.

If we give them the opportunity to develop by providing supporting facilities and their potential will be seen and make them proud of their talents and skills. They will be more enthusiastic about learning and feel happier.

At the end of 2021 PT GoldTeak held a drawing and writing competition for Cibeureum Elementary School students. Not all students participate but we can hope that this competition will encourage other children to be motivated to enjoy writing, reading, telling stories, drawing, dancing or singing. All talent and skill development activities will make children smarter and happier. Of the total 64 students, there were eight students who took part in the writing competition and 41 students took part in the drawing competition.

And in early 2022, PT GoldTeak started its CSR program by giving awards to Cibeureum Elementary School students who had participated in drawing and writing competitions. There are three winners for each category:

Writing Contest Winners:

– 1st Place: Pera Safitri (grade 5)

– 2nd Place: Herlina Putri (grade 5)

– 3rd Place: Liman Saputra (grade 6)

Drawing Contest Winners:

– 1st place: Alviyani (class 1)

– 2nd Place: Pera Safitri (grade 5)

– 3rd Place: Sela (class 3)

The winners received trophies, books and crayons as prizes. Those who did not win also received notebooks, drawing books and crayon, and for students who did not take part in the competition, they were also given notebooksm pens and pencils to encourage them to be diligent in writing and drawing.

Language is the most fundamental communication tool. Children who like reading will have good communication skills, because they are accustomed to seeing different sentence structures and diverse vocabulary so that they easily understand and know the meaning and context of a word.

Having a large and varied vocabulary also helps children understand the sentences and messages in the stories they read. When communicating children also learn to be good listeners, they easily understand what other people are saying and vice versa, they are also not difficult to convey their thoughts.

Reading can develop children’s imagination and intelligence, because reading can stimulate the development of their brain nerves. With imagination and communication skills, children will also have the ability to tell stories. No less important, reading can also improve their writing skills.

Books that can inspire children to read are very diverse, from general knowledge reading books, natural knowledge or story books and fables. These reading books also have lessons that they can apply in their daily lives. How they behave well towards their parents, peers and the environment. Protect the environment by planting trees and making recycled goods and not littering.

At the beginning of 2022, PT GoldTeak prepared many books for the children of SD Cibeureum so that they become intelligent and noble students.

December rains every day, the sun is only seen briefly in the morning or afternoon. Sometimes it’s cloudy and drizzling in the morning and heavy rains in the afternoon and even into the night.

Children learn and play inside their houses or on the porch. There are no activities outside, but when it rains sometimes they play football at the school’s yard. Actually, they can play many games at home, such as playing Monopoly, indoor Camping, Dakon/Congklak, Snakes & ladders or Bekel. Not all children in the village have the toys mentioned above, so they don’t have many opportunities to play.

Almost every month, PT Gold Teak donates knowledge books, story books or fairy tales. Because there are not many books, they have to take turns, sometimes they do experiments like those in knowledge books, such as getting acquainted with colors and mixing colors, making natural dyes from leaves and flowers, making handicrafts from paper pulp or clay and so on. make kites. Reading is an activity that is never boring because a lot of knowledge children can find in books or in stories.

The Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet, the children of Cibening village have not been allowed to go to school, they are still learning online from home. The pandemic period is quite long, making children accustomed to learning independently, with the guidance of teachers through their smartphones, they can study with their siblings or friends who live close by.

This year, it has started to be allowed to study in schools but with some conditions, students study at school only twice a week and only half of the students attend. Still following health protocols by keeping a distance, wearing masks and washing hands frequently.

Extra-curricular activities such as Scouting, sports and arts are almost never done anymore. During the pandemic, PT Gold Teak continued to carry out Corporate Social Responsibility activities in the form of providing tree seeds for the Green Project, donating reading books and stories as well as drawing and writing competitions.

There are not many extracurricular activities provided by the school program for students to study at home.

PT Gold Teak offers a writing and drawing competition program several months ago, quite a lot of students sent their drawings. After being selected by the teacher, then sent to PT Gold Teak to choose the best 4 pictures, prizes and awards will be given to the winners after next month. All participants will be given presents so that they remain and continue to be enthusiastic about doing useful and fun activities.

The theme of the drawing competition this time is My Green Village, students can choose the object of the drawing they like, the green around their house or the village environment is clean and full of trees or draw a picture of Teak Plantation.
